Dr. Parry Aftab and her Management Team
Dr. Aftab, an Internet privacy and security lawyer and founder of the world’s largest and oldest cybersafety charity, is WiredTrust’s founder as well. Named by The Boston Herald as “the leading expert in cybercrime in the world,” Dr. Aftab has a long list of honors and companies that look to her for help. She is the most sought-after expert for media on cybersafety and cyber-crime issues, appearing a couple times a week with a major news outlet. She has written the leading books on cybersafety, worldwide, and is frequently asked to speak globally on these issues, most recently in Egypt at the invitation of its First Lady.
Only one thing matters in the Web 2.0 space - credibility. While large consulting and law firms may try and address the needs of the industry, few understand those needs. Dr. Aftab does and has been recognized by the industry as a leader in her field since social networking first became mainstream - MySpace.com in February 2005. Barely a twinkle in Tom's eye, with approximately 5 million registered profiles, MySpace recognized how much they didn't know and turned to Parry Aftab to help. She wrote the first law enforcement investigator's guide for the social networking industry, which became the best practice standard. Because of her involvement, MySpace adopted privacy settings and created special rules for younger users. Chris DeWolfe, MySpace's founder and CEO, said that "Parry understands more about Internet safety than anyone else." And he was right.
